Humans are emotional creatures. One of the most well-known photography legends once said:
“A GREAT photograph is one that fully expresses what one FEELS, in the deepest sense, about WHAT is being photographed.” – Ansel Adams
Think about it… photos that convey emotions (pure joy, surprise, excitement, disappointment, anger, frustration) are the most interesting. The better the photos in your album, the more the photograph will transport you and all of the feelings you felt will come rushing back.
So, let’s get emotional!
Prizes
- One Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a $150 Gift Certificate. We will also include their photo on our website and blog as the winner of the contest.
- Two Runner-up Winners each will be awarded a $75 Gift Certificate to use on our website and will have their names mentioned on our website and blog.
Judging Criteria
When deciding what photos to capture/submit, ask yourself:
- How can I capture what is here and what I feel?
- What effect do I want my photograph to have on people when they see it?
- What kind of post-processing tricks can I use to enhance the image while keepin’ it real?
Submissions will be judged on the following criteria…
- How well your photo captured the emotion
- Creativity
- Uniqueness
- Composition
- Technical quality

Deadline & Entries
- All entries must be received by Friday, December 31, 2010. The winner will be contacted via email and announced on our website on Friday, January 21, 2011.
- You may enter up to three photos.
- Pixelbooking reserves the right to extend the contest deadline if we do not receive enough participation to successfully conduct the contest.
Selection Process
- Finalists will be chosen by Pixelbooking, Inc.
- Winners will be chosen by Pixelbooking, Inc. and will be notified by Email and/or Phone. Be sure to add pixelperfect@pixelbooking.com to your Email Provider’s White List.
Rules
Please read the rules carefully. Failure to comply with the rules will result in disqualification (and we don’t want to disqualify anyone!)
Big Rule #1: Be Sure It’s Your Own Work
- The “Get Emotional” Photo Contest are sponsored by Pixelbooking.
- All images submitted must be your own work. We make no apologies – we simply don’t condone plagiarism (read: stealing).
- You may alter your photos in Photoshop or a similar program as long as they are done by you. Be cautious though, editing is to enhance and improve. An overedited photo cannot replace a great shot captured in the first place.
Big Rule #2: Copyrights & Permissions
- As a photo contest entrant, you retain all copyrights to your images.
- By entering The “Get Emotional” Photo Contest, you certify that you have obtained the proper signed Photography Release Forms for subjects appearing in your photography.
- Pixelbooking reserves the rights to use images entered into the contest on the www.pixelbooking.com websites for educational and promotional purposes.
- Credit will be given where credit is due. If your images are displayed on our websites, your name will appear nearby your photograph.
Other Rules
- No purchase necessary to enter. But entrant must be a registered user on pixelbooking.com.
- Entrants must be at least 18 years of age and legal residents of the United States to enter.
- The design may not include any content that may be considered distasteful or offensive.
- Entries will not be returned to sender.
- All entries become the property of Pixelbooking, Inc. and will not be acknowledged or returned.
- Entry constitutes permission to use the winners’ name, picture, likeness and city and state of residence for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion for no additional compensation except where prohibited by law.
- Submission of entry constitutes entrant’s consent (or that of their parent/legal guardian) to irrevocably assign to Pixelbooking, Inc. any and all rights to entry including, but not limited to, intellectual property rights.
- Submission of any entry grants Pixelbooking, Inc. and its agents the right to publish, produce, use, adapt, edit and/or modify the entry in any way and in any and all media, without limitation and without compensation to the entrant.
- By entering, entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Pixelbooking, Inc., which are final and binding.
Privacy
- Privacy is important to us; therefore, we will never sell, rent, or give your name, email address or any other personal information to anyone.
- At any point, you can select the link at the bottom of every email to unsubscribe, or to receive less or more information.
Other Fun Legal Stuff
- Photo contest entrants agree to hold harmless the sponsor (Pixelbooking) from any damages they might incur from participating in the Get Emotional Photo Contest.
- Photo contest entrants understand and agree this contest is void where prohibited by law.
