I was watching How it’s Made on TV with my kids the other night (which happens to be their favorite show) and the show was featuring how jeans are made. Did you know that once the jeans are sewn together, they place the jeans on these inflatable legs and fill the legs with air? Then, with the denim stretched to capacity (kind of like how I feel in my jeans after they come out of the dryer), they literally take power tools and start scuffing the denim. It was so cool to watch!
Now, I’m very critical of the scuffing when I buy a pair of jeans. Just the right direction of scuffing can be the difference between wider or narrower looking thighs. It was funny to think that a skilled factory worker with a sander in hand is determining how thin I look.
I channeled my love of denim and finickiness for scuffing into designing the American Denim Digital Kit.

I made some cool scuffs and stitching to include in the kit — all in separate png files for the scuffs so that you can place the scuffs exactly where you want them! I also included several denim fabrics. Because we all know all denim is not created equal.
